I keep thinking about it….And talking about it I find I cannot stop. And at the years end…you’ll find me, my friend With my nose against the glass of the music shop I want a Ukulele Christmas A little one to strum I want a Ukulele Christmas I’ll have to talk to Santa and mum Ba di da dum I want a Ukulele Christmas I can’t get it out of my head I want a Ukulele Christmas In the morning at the end of my bed It’ll be there for me, maybe under the tree I’ll unwrap the little thing so carefully And we’ll sing with the strings Carols and hymns and Christmassy things I want a Ukulele Christmas It’s a gift that gives forever ‘cause music self-played is happiness made And we’ll make beautiful music together. Together.

Why is Santa everywhere? Sitting sadly in that chair Is that even his real hair? why is Santa everywhere? Is that red suit slightly tight? Do they lock him in overnight? Like a fridge without the light? Or is he worried that they might? Why is Santa everywhere? Sitting sadly in that chair I always see him sitting there. Why is Santa everywhere?

Christmas wrap, Christmas wrap Why is every gift I get covered in that? It’s the thought that counts, not the wrapping it’s in I’ve opened it up, now it’s in the bin Shiny ribbons, all tied up and pernickety Rollded and folded with tape that’s sticky Tip it up rip it up undo the sticky taper A little stack of presents and a giant stack of paper Christmas wrap, Christmas wrap Why is every gift I get covered in that? Iron out the wrinkles make sure it’s nice and flat Re-gift the gift, and re-gift the wrap
5.
Merry Christmas to all, to you and to me but something’s missing from under the tree No snow outside, no open fire …and something else that rhymes with fire The roads are quiet. There’s little sound At night all the families are driving around The glittering lights they all admire It’s Christmas and your presence is all that I require Santa can come and Santa can go And heavenly hosts sing ho ho ho And David can play upon his lyre …and something else that rhymes with lyre Let Santa stay in the land of Lapp ‘cause it’s you that I’d rather slowly unwrap I’d rather remove all that festive attire And hear your name sung by that choir I need a miracle, and call me a liar But it’s Christmas and your presence is all that I require It’s Christmas and your presence is all that I require

On the first day of Christmas, I went into a shop And I did some shopping. On the other days of Christmas I went into some shops And did some shopping Then I did some shopping, Plus a bit of shopping Then a bit more shopping Then I bought some stuff Did a little shopping in a big shop Purchased some items And I did some shopping.
7.
You can sense it every Christmas You can smell it in the air It’s a special kind of odour Wafting everywhere It’s the smell of Christmas Go on and take a sniff It’s the smell of Christmas Everybody take a whiff Let that Christmas sprit go Come on, let the fragrance flow Christmas spirit, spread it around It smells so funky and it doesn’t make a sound I try so hard not to let it go but it cannot be denied I’m so full of Christmas spirit that I cannot hold inside A Christmas cracker, a little hat, A motto to amuse me The smell of Christmas all around And no-one said ‘excuse me’
8.
It’s Christmas…so raise your voice It’s Christmas… so let’s rejoice It’s Christmas…we have no choice It’s Christmas …This Christmas. It’s Christmas…and I’m annoyed It’s Christmas…I’m unemployed It’s Christmas…I can’t avoid It’s Christmas …This Christmas. Why does everyone think that Christmas rocks When all I ever get is jocks and socks? The family gathers round but it’s not much fun When it’s just you and your mum It’s Christmas…it’s finally here It’s Christmas…let’s give a cheer That Christmas… is only once a year. It’s Christmas this Christmas. All Christmas, it’ll be Christmas All the party people Shrug your shoulders in the air Shrug them around like you just don’t care.

Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Alright Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb Like a Light Bulb

Regifting 01:11
Oh! you exclaim As you open the lid You shouldn’t have! But I believe I just did. So we open it up And put on a grin It’s still in the box That I got it in We smile at each other eyes shifting We’re re-gifting It was given to me So I give it to you And you give to me Something you received too What goes around comes around And comes around again It’s the thought that counts, I think, but then My thoughts are drifting Towards re-gifting When Christmas is over There’s nobody here I try to work out What to re-gift next year Through the pile I’m sifting Insisting On re-gifting.

Boxing Day 01:53
You’re eating leftovers From yesterday’s lunch sitting with your family and they’re a motley bunch Your belly’s sore there is no more presents or goodwill keep looking at the door wondering what this day’s for starting to feel ill Only sport on the TV I think I’ve got a hunch (i think) They call it boxing day ‘cause it feels like you’ve been punched Can’t keep my mind off that Yuletide credit crunch Thinking of an orphans Christmas With my little honeybunch I think I am Sick of ham and this one is so big The only way To have a worse day Is if you were that pig
12.
All the Christmas windows illuminate the street stripes of light in the night are reaching for my feet Lights go out in windows, the tinsel swings and blows When it’s just gone midnight And the shops are finally closed Christmas through your window, my path lit by the beam I am outside looking in Not as happy as it seems Warmth and food and family presents tomorrow’s treat a tree stands in a lounge room while trees shift in the street no reindeer in the sky no sleigh bells from afar just birds and leaves and night time and a single star no shepherds tending sheep no kings of orient are just birds and leaves and night time and a single star walk away and find a place and hope to turn a corner there’s Christmas through your window and the night will get no warmer This time of year’s for travel, this time of year’s for home While you’re gathering I will gather My belongings on my own

about

Most Christmas albums are cheap, shiny, lumpy, treasured throwaways – giftwrapped contradictions – here Tyrone and Lesley offer a unique twist on that tradition by putting 12 original yuletide ukulele tunes under the tree, music which playfully takes in holiday heartache, tinsellitis and Xmas exasperation, alongside the wallet-wearying Christmas consumerism we all love and endure.

This release contains a couple of bonus tracks: first versions from the initial Baubles sessions in 2014, plus lyric booklet
